Raja, Darryl & Loh has been representing clients in this area for over 30 years. Among our partners are Fellows of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and Fellows of the Malaysian Institute of Arbitrators. One partner is the current Vice-President of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Malaysia Branch), while another is the current Deputy President of the Malaysian Institute of Arbitrators.
Some of our partners sit as arbitrators both in Malaysia as well as other international centres of arbitration and are on the panels of arbitrators and adjudicators of the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC) (formerly known as the Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration). They are also qualified assessors, tutors and markers for the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
Our international arbitration practice has covered multiple jurisdictions; we have conducted arbitrations involving foreign laws including Sudanese, Chinese, Singaporean, English and Ukrainian laws. Members of the team have been retained as arbitrators, advisors and/or counsel on arbitrations conducted under the auspices of various arbitration institutions. One of the partners, Choon Hon Leng, is exceptionally ﬂuent in Mandarin and has advised, drafted documents and conducted international arbitrations in that language.
In addition to arbitration, we are also actively involved in statutory adjudication of construction disputes pursuant to the Construction Industry Payment and Adjudication Act 2012. Our partners have acted as adjudicators and counsel, and are frequently invited to speak at various conferences and seminars on statutory adjudications.
