Over the years, the firm has built up a consistent track record for advising clients desiring to conduct initial public offerings (“IPO”) of their companies’ shares on stock exchanges, whether in Malaysia or abroad. IPOs are now a regular feature of our practice. We have acted as listing lawyers for flotations not only on Bursa Malaysia but on stock exchanges in Singapore, London, Hong Kong and the United States. We also advise clients and work with fund managers and investment banks on capital market fund raising activities (whether debt or equity) on a regular basis.

Partners from our Capital Markets practice group advised on the largest fund-raising activity on Bursa Malaysia by a China-based company. We floated the first and only China-based company to successfully debut on the sponsor investment bank-driven ACE Market, Bursa Malaysia. We have also acted as Malaysian counsel in advising another China-based client on its listing on the GEM Market, Stock Exchange of Hong Kong (SEHK). This flotation on the SEHK has been ranked the third best on GEM (after the height of the internet bubble in 2000), an alternative fundraising platform on SEHK focused on by start-ups. We continue to work with select foreign clients on their listings in Malaysia and elsewhere.

We advised on the flotation of the very first company to debut on Bursa Malaysia’s Leading Entrepreneur Accelerator Platform (LEAP) Market and subsequently on the flotation of another. The LEAP Market aims to provide small and medium enterprises with an alternative and efficient fund-raising and visibility platform. For the last few months, we have been the lead counsel to a company that is headed for a listing on the ACE Market. We are also acting for clients that propose to transfer from the LEAP Market to the ACE Market of Bursa, pursuant to the LEAP Market Transfer Framework launched in March 2023.
