Joyce commenced legal practice in another large firm in Kuala Lumpur, where she handled a litigation portfolio involving primarily banking and securities disputes. She joined Raja, Darryl & Loh in 2001 and became a partner in 2006.
In practice since 1999, Joyce supports local and international clients from various industries in a multitude of corporate and commercial endeavours including:
- Mergers and Acquisitions, Divestments, Joint Ventures, Corporate and Business (employees, assets etc) ;
- Restructuring and Takeovers;
- Companies Law Advisory;
- Securities Dealings and Offerings, Equity Investments and Equity Option Schemes;
- Foreign Investments into Malaysia, Cross Border Transactions into or out of Malaysia and Foreign Exchange Control Issues;

Joyce is particularly active in mergers and acquisitions and has been involved in leading the end-to-end support for these transactions, from the pre-acquisition bidding processes, due diligence investigations, regulatory advisory, pre-M&A structuring, the negotiation of all related transactional documents to the post-M&A integration exercises.
She has acted in the acquisition and/or disposal of businesses, assets and/or shares and the restructuring of group companies across a broad spectrum of industries including but not limited to manufacturing, distribution (from wholesale to direct retail businesses), healthcare and pharmaceutical, aviation services and maintenance, oil and gas, energy, hotel and hospitality, logistics, courier services, farming and agriculture, food, education and travel and tourism. The transactions which Joyce has led originate from a diverse list of countries.
Intertwined with her M&A work is the assistance given to foreign clients (many of which are multi-national companies) that wish to invest in Malaysia and to establish a local business presence, as well as advising on and conducting the necessary legal and regulatory compliance audits.
In addition, Joyce has acted as Malaysian counsel in sizeable cross-border financing deals pertaining to the foreign clients she supports.
Particular mention should be made of the fact that Joyce and her team have extensive experience in advising clients on the legal aspects of the rapidly developing healthcare and pharmaceutical industry, from regulatory advisory to documentation in regard to the management and operations of healthcare facilities; the practice of medicine and dentistry, the practice of tele-medicine and tele-nursing; the launch of medical, health and/or wellness applications (Apps) or by other new technological means; the sale of medical devices and the business of aesthetics and cosmetic procedure facilities, to name some examples.
Other clients include leading multinationals and Malaysian corporations in the energy (including renewable energy) sector, some of whom Joyce has advised for many years. There are also clients that wish to reduce their carbon footprint and seek legal advice on potential new business ventures with this objective.
Joyce has been listed as a Notable Practitioner and a Recommended Lawyer in Chambers and Partners Asia Pacific and The Legal 500 Asia Pacific. She has also been rated as “Highly Regarded” in the practice areas of M&A and Banking & Finance by IFLR1000.
