Chun Yong is one of the two partners in the Firm who specialise in Competition law, a relatively new area of law in Malaysia as the Competition Act 2010 only came into force in 2012.

In the dynamic field of Competition law, Chun Yong has played a pivotal role in advising clients on various complex matters. Some notable aspects of his work include: 

• providing counsel on the legality of collaborations between competitors in the telco industry;
• successfully defending four insurance companies before the Malaysia Competition Commission where our clients had been alleged to have engaged in cartel behaviour;
• advising a key player in the automotive industry on potential collaborations and joint production with a competitor;
• guiding an association with members in the financial services industry, from a competition law perspective, on potential collaborative efforts focusing on ESG (Environment, Social and Governance).

He has been praised for delivering pragmatic legal solutions to clients.

Chun Yong has also conducted multiple competition law audits and due diligence on clients’ practices, agreements and policies and delivered competition law training in both English and Mandarin.
