During the research period, the firm represented Vedanta and Ravva Oil (Singapore) in a cross-border arbitration with the Government of India on a dispute in relation to a production sharing contract for an oil and gas sectors in India. In the construction area, the firm acted for Ann Joo Integrated Steel on an arbitration case in relation to a contract for the design, construction and commissioning of a blast furnace complex in Malaysia.  

In the intellectual property space, a case highlight includes work for Petrofac Engineering & Construction on a patent infringement case concerning whether the term ‘removeably attached’ differs from the terms ‘removable’ and ‘detachable’.  The firm also acted for Shenzhen Coocaa Network Technology in a trademark dispute.  

Case highlight for the employment team during the research period include work for Volvo Car Manufacturing Malaysia on a dispute where the client is alleged for wrongful termination of a recruitment and supply agreement.  

In tax, the firm acted for YPJ Plantations and YPJ Golf Resort on a case against the Director General of Inland Revenue before the Special Commissioners of Income Tax. 

Darryl SC Goon, who was the head of Dispute Resolution of the firm has been appointed to a Judicial Commissioner of the High Court of Malaysia since March 2018.
