Freddy joins Raja, Darryl & Loh on 2 January 2026 as a Partner in its Dispute Resolution Practice Group, from another notable Malaysian law firm. His key practice areas encompass civil and commercial disputes with a primary focus on banking and finance litigation.

As a litigator on the banking front, Freddy has appeared before all tiers of the Malaysian courts, handling a wide range of matters including bank guarantee and counter guarantee disputes, contractual disputes, land disputes, fraud, negligence, breach of trust and fiduciary duties, recovery, insolvency, and forfeiture of property proceedings under the Dangerous Drugs (Forfeiture of Property) Act 1988 and the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001. His notable experience includes: 

  • Assisting in a cross-border dispute involving a financial institution concerning the interpretation of a jurisdiction clause regarding a claim of approximately USD190 million.
  • Assisting in a counter guarantee matter involving a financial institution concerning a sum of approximately USD135 million.
  • Assisting in a Federal Court appeal involving a financial institution concerning a constructive trust claim over a land valued at approximately RM100 million.
  • Assisting in a bank guarantee matter involving a financial institution concerning a sum of approximately RM70 million.
  • Assisting in a forfeiture of property matter involving a financial institution under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 concerning a sum of approximately RM20 million.

Beyond his core specialisation, his other significant involvements include:

  • Assisting on matters arising out of a breach of directors’ duties in respect of an acquisition valued at approximately USD45 million.
  • Assisting in a matter involving a defamation claim of RM150 million.
  • Assisting in a matter involving an international manufacturing company prosecuted for offences under the Environmental Quality Act 1974.
  • Assisting on matters arising out of a breach of a warehousing services agreement.
  • Assisting in a matter involving a defamation claim brought by a private higher education institution.

Freddy is also proficient in written and spoken Mandarin, enabling him to provide legal support to his Mandarin-speaking clientele.
